Competition Rules & Fair Play Policy

Rivals provides a platform for users to organise and record friendly competitions.

Rivals does not:

• Organise, participate in or verify competitions
• Referee disputes or determine winners
• Guarantee prizes or enforce forfeits
• Collect or distribute money

Every competition is created and managed by its participants.

The person creating a competition (“the Organiser”) is responsible for:

• Creating accurate competition details and inviting participants
• Setting fair rules and recording results honestly
• Entering final standings where applicable
• Ending the competition when complete

Organisers should act fairly and in good faith.

Before joining any competition, you should understand:

• The objective and how the winner is determined
• Any buy-ins, prizes, forfeits, rewards or deadlines
• Any special rules

If you do not agree with the rules, do not join the competition. Joining a competition indicates that you accept the rules as presented.

Competition rules should be agreed before the competition begins. Rules may include:

• How winners are determined and competition duration
• Scoring methods and tie-break procedures
• Prize distribution, buy-ins, bonuses and forfeits
• House rules

Participants should avoid changing rules once a competition has started unless everyone involved agrees.

Results should be recorded honestly. Where evidence is required, it should accurately reflect the outcome of the competition. Examples include:

• Official league tables
• Activity tracker screenshots
• Scorecards and verified statistics
• Photographs

Knowingly recording false results is prohibited.

For competitions involving multiple participants, the Organiser is responsible for recording the final standings. Participants should review standings before the competition is marked as complete.

If a mistake is discovered, participants should attempt to resolve it together before finalising the competition.

Some competitions may require supporting evidence. Evidence should be genuine, relevant, unedited and truthful. Examples include:

• Strava activities, Apple Health or Garmin activities
• Fantasy league tables and match results
• Golf scorecards and official league standings

Uploading manipulated or misleading evidence may result in action against your account.

Some competitions may include buy-ins agreed between participants.

Rivals does not:

• Receive, hold or process buy-in payments
• Verify payments or refund buy-ins

Buy-ins are entirely private arrangements between participants.

Competitions may include prizes - cash, trophies, meals, drinks, gifts, bragging rights or custom rewards.

Rivals is not responsible for providing, guaranteeing, verifying or enforcing prize payments.

Forfeits are part of the fun and should remain exactly that. Good forfeits are funny, creative, safe, reasonable and agreed by everyone before the competition starts. Examples include:

• Buying the next round
• Wearing fancy dress
• Cooking dinner or completing a fitness challenge
• Singing karaoke

Forfeits must never:

• Break the law or encourage violence or self-harm
• Humiliate or degrade participants
• Place anyone in danger
• Involve discrimination or harassment

If a proposed forfeit makes someone uncomfortable, it should not be used.

Competition only works when people keep their word. If you agreed to a buy-in, prize, reward, forfeit or another agreed outcome, you should make every reasonable effort to honour that commitment.

While Rivals cannot enforce private agreements, we strongly encourage users to respect the commitments they voluntarily make.

Participants must compete honestly. You must not:

• Submit false results or fake evidence
• Manipulate standings or impersonate participants
• Use multiple accounts or intentionally exploit bugs
• Mislead other participants

Winning dishonestly goes against the spirit of Rivals.

Most competitions should be resolved between participants. If a disagreement arises, we encourage users to:

• Discuss the issue respectfully
• Review the agreed rules and any evidence
• Reach a fair outcome together

Rivals is generally unable to determine who is correct and does not act as a referee or arbitrator. In some circumstances, we may remove competitions or take action against users who repeatedly abuse the platform.

Competitions must not involve:

• Illegal activity or unlawful gambling
• Violence, dangerous behaviour or self-harm
• Criminal conduct or discrimination
• Hate speech, exploitation or animal cruelty
• Illegal substances or anything that breaches applicable law

We reserve the right to remove competitions that we believe are unsafe, unlawful or inconsistent with the Rivals community.

Rivals is designed for friendly social competition. Rivals is not a sportsbook, casino, betting platform, bookmaker or gambling operator.

Rivals does not facilitate gambling services and does not accept responsibility for any private arrangements made between users. Users remain responsible for ensuring that any competition they create complies with the laws applicable to them.

If you believe a competition involves cheating, fraud, harassment, dangerous behaviour, illegal content, fake evidence or abusive conduct, please report it using the reporting tools available within Rivals or by contacting help@playrivals.app.

Where appropriate, Rivals may:

• Remove competitions or content, and invalidate platform activity
• Suspend accounts or permanently ban users
• Report unlawful activity to relevant authorities where legally required

Our decisions are made to protect the integrity of the Rivals community and may be taken without prior notice where necessary.

We may update this Competition Rules & Fair Play Policy from time to time. Material changes will take effect once published on Rivals. Your continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
